Ideal Property Group once again stepped forward to assist in a noble cause for the benefit of the community. Ideal Property Group will be the main contributor for the setting up of the Relau base of St. John Ambulance of Malaysia, State of Penang. The Relau base will play a major role in providing 24-hour emergency services for Penang Southwest District.
St. John Ambulance of Malaysia, State of Penang’s Commander Dato’ Dr Yee Thiam Sun shared that while the St John’s headquarters was located in Ayer Itam since year 1976, the Penang team has in 2006 set-up the Southwest District Station to accommodate to the rapid growth of population within Southwest District. Due the rapid development in Southwest District, the Southwest District station was continuously encountered relocation issues to several locations since 2006. Amongst the locations the base was set up included Relau Tua Pek Kong Temple, Bayan Baru Government Clinic and was once left with no alternative but to return to Ayer Itam headquarters.
State of Penang’s Honorary State Secretary Mr. Ricky Chan Kok Soon mentioned that when St. John Ambulance was looking for a suitable location in mid-year 2018, Ideal Property Group reached out to assist St John Ambulance and successfully found a suitable location measuring 5100 square feet in Relau, situated next to the upcoming School for Mentally Retarded Children.
St. John Ambulance Malaysia Commander in Chief, Dato’ Lai See Meng also expressed his gratitude to Ideal Property Group for the contribution towards St. John Ambulance Malaysia.
Dr. Lawrence Tan who is EMAS (Emergency Medical Assistance Service) in charge informed that currently there are two ambulances providing 24 -hour services for the residents in the Southwest District. For general emergency, one may dial 999 to request for their non-chargeable service. As for those in need of special service from St. John ambulance such as transportation for the less capable, one can call the hotline at 016-7725742 for details and minimum charges will be applicable.
Tan Sri Datuk Alex Ooi, the Executive Chairman of Ideal Property Group explained that the current base at Relau will serve as a temporary centre , while awaiting for the construction of the new permanent building expected to commence after 2 years.
Tan Sri Datuk Alex Ooi added that the population of the Southwest District had since 2009 increased with an approximate of 3000 residents per annum. In 2009, the population in the area was approximately 190,000 and this number had increased to approximately 223,000 in year 2017. Currently, emergency services are located in the Northeast District, which is quite a distance in the event of emergency. Ideal Property Group recognises the urgent need for an emergency base in Southwest, hence the decision to sponsor the St. John Ambulance base in Relau which standby to provide a 24-hour emergency services.
This project is another effort by Ideal Property Group in line with its sustainable living principle as well as its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives. Other initiatives implemented are related to schools, religious buildings and community facilities.
